Trey Gillen has been in the hair industry for thirteen years. Gillen earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the esteemed Juilliard School in New York City where he experienced a successful career as a Broadway chorus boy. Afterwards, he began his hair tutelage under the direction of celebrity hairstylists: Garren, Thom Priano, and Louis Chiodo at the Garren, New York salon on 5th Avenue. His New York representation has included Contact and Judy Casey Agencies. Editorial spreads to his credits have appeared in
GQ, Men’s Italian Vogue, Glamour, More, DuJour , New York Magazine, WWD, Men’s Health, Dance Magazine and Dance Spirit Magazine. For 10 consecutive years, Trey has styled hair in Bryant Park as well as Lincoln center for New York City’s Fashion Week. Designers include: Anna Sui, Donna Karan, Naeem Khan, Victoria’s Secret, Ralph Lauren, Nicole Miller, Wes Gordon, Veronica Beard, CZAR by Cesar Galindo, Moscov, Behnaz Sarafpour, ThreeAsFour, Andy and Debb and Timo Weiland . Catalog labels that have called on his artistic skills are J Crew, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ralph Lauren and Houston’s Modern Luxury Brides. Trey has also been known to tress the locks for Broadway shows such as: Pirates of Penzance, the Sondheim Review at Carnegie Hall, Movin’ Out, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Barefoot in the Park (where he worked exclusively with Amanda Peet and Patrick Wilson).
While working as a stylist at Garren, Trey’s clientele spanned from New York socialites, Broadway stars and TV personalities to runway models, fashion designers, rap artists and Hollywood celebrities.Mr. Gillen currently appears as a national artist with L’Oreal Professionnel, Kerastase & Shu Uemura Art of Hair, and has appeared as guest teacher for the Aveda Institute. Trey currently appears regularly on TV with ABC and Live Well HD Network, and every other month works as a guest artist at O&M Salon in NYC’s Meat Packing District.
