The Maria Nila Story
Maria Nila is a Swedish professional haircare brand born in 1999, when the Wikström family began mixing formulas in a garage in southern Sweden. The name honours founder Ann's great-grandmother, Maria Nila, who lived by the Sámi principle of respecting nature and wildlife.
Every product is 100% vegan and animal-friendly certified, sulphate- and paraben-free, and made in the brand's own factory in Sweden. Colour Guard protection runs through the care range, keeping colour work true for longer — the reason so many colourists reach for it behind the chair.
At the centre of the professional offer is Colour Collection, a six-part colour system — Cover, Classic, Sheer, Gloss, Blonde and Boost — built on a pre-bonding complex and US-patented colour technology. In clinical testing against leading competitors it delivered up to 85% more shine, 25% less colour fade and up to 41% less breakage, in recycled aluminium tubes and free from PPD, resorcinol, parabens and sulphates.

The Maria Nila Colour System
Colour Collection is a complete 100% vegan colour system: Cover for full grey coverage, Classic for everyday tone, Sheer for translucent demi results, Gloss for acidic shine services, Blonde for up to five levels of lift, and Boost for direct vibrant shades. A pre-bonding complex of amino acids, proteins and Polyquaternium-22 protects the hair during the service — clinical testing showed up to 41% less breakage, up to 85% more shine from meadowfoam seed oil, and 25% less colour fade than leading competitors.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
B Corp certified since 2024 with a score of 114.3 — the first Swedish beauty brand to earn the certification. Colour Collection ships in 100% recycled aluminium tubes and cartons with CO2-compensated packaging, and every formula is 100% vegan and animal-friendly certified. Through the annual Be Friendly charity programme, Maria Nila has partnered for 2026 with Skydog Ranch & Sanctuary, which rescues and rehabilitates America's wild mustangs and burros; funds are raised through dedicated sales campaigns and donated via The Perfect World Foundation. Maria Nila also restores forest through Plan Vivo, with 2,310,000 m2 planted in Nicaragua, Honduras and Uganda.
